How to read Japanese Pages

Are you missing to read Japanese pages with your computer? You may say, "My Windows 95/98 is only for English. When I try to read Japanese pages, I just see a series of meaningless characters. Do I need a Japanese version of Windows 95/98?" No, your PC can read and write without a Japanese version of Windows. Just add the the Global IME function to your computer. Go to Microsoft Global IME page, and get JAMOND.EXE file. (Caution: It's big-6MB. You need Internet Explorer 4.0 or newer version.)

If you have Internet Explorer 5.0 or above, it's easy to read a webpage in any language. Select [View]-[Encoding]-[More]-[Japanese]. (See screen shots below.) "Japanese Language Support" will be downloaded automatically. By this way you can read Japanese webpage and email (if you select encoding and font properly), but you cannot write Japanese on webpage or email. You can update your Internet Explorer by using a free promotion CD-ROM of MSN. If you don't have it, ask your friends.

1. Choose Japanese from [Encoding] menu...

2. And download a plugin file from Internet or CD-ROM.

Go to Japanese Page and enjoy it!
